Seeking New Pastor

The Center Hill Covenant Brethren Church is seeking a pastor to share the love of Christ with our congregation and community.  Our ideal pastor will possess a strong foundation in biblical knowledge and the ability to communicate God’s Word in a clear and engaging manner. They should be prayerful and committed to sharing the Gospel with others. Additionally, strong leadership skills and a calling/willingness to serve are desired.  Please send statement of faith, a letter of interest and resume to Doswell_1@yahoo.com

Center Hill Covenant Brethren Church is a rural church located in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, at 2039 Freeport Road in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.

Our congregation began in 1820 with eight members and the first church structure was built in 1861. Our tradition is based upon the Brethren movement which began under the leadership of Alexander Mack, Sr. in 1708 in Schwarzenau, Germany as a natural outgrowth of the Anabaptist and Pietist movements following the Reformation.

Our congregation is founded upon the faith that there is but one Triune God (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) who is a personal Father God who in holy love creates, sustains, and orders all things. We confess that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as Lord and Savior, and Redeemer of the Church and the whole world. We believe that the Holy Spirit is at work in the hearts and minds of believers, creating and sustaining the Church through the Gospel. We believe the Bible as the inspired Word of God and is without error and completely trustworthy.

We average 100-120 for our Sunday morning worship service. Our ministries include Sunday School for adults and children, Bible Study for adults, Pioneer Club (a weekly, biblically based program that helps children follow Christ) for school age children, and Christian Youth in Action for teens. Additionally, we have other activities such as Choir, Men’s and Women’s Fellowship, Vacation Bible School, and a Honduras mission outreach group.

We are a welcoming active church reaching out into our community and around the world to share Christ’s love and forgiveness. Proceeds from our popular Strawberry, Peach, and Fall festivals are used to help those in need in our community. We also help the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle drive, support local assistance groups by providing boxed and canned goods, and give aid to a ministry that assists female veterans suffering from PTSD. Additionally, we provide a meeting space for a group helping men dealing with substance abuse.

The messages you will hear from the pulpit are ones that proclaim Christ’s love and forgiveness and the full gospel of Jesus Christ without compromise. Our desire is for those seeking a new direction in their life’s journey to find hope, love, discipleship, and a new beginning in Jesus here at Center Hill.

Our music style is a combination of traditional hymns and some contemporary choruses as well. We welcome informal to casual dress.

We have recently left the Church of the Brethren due to the denomination compromising God’s Word.
